From a Simple Idea to a Global Community
Our story began in Lviv in 2020. Founder Vasyl Zorena, a photographer and engineer by education, saw a clear problem: professional lighting was often either too expensive or simply not designed around the real needs of creators. So we decided to build something better. Together with a small team of engineers and creators, we began developing our own portable lighting systems under the Z-Lighter brand. By 2022, our lights had found their way into the hands of photographers and videographers across Ukraine and beyond.
Following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, we decided to move forward with a new identity. Z-Lighter became THE LIGHTER™. A new name, but the same idea at its core: to create powerful, compact and thoughtfully designed lighting tools for people who care about their work.
Our development process covers every part of the product - from industrial design and electronics to firmware, testing and final assembly. This gives us control over the details that matter and allows us to continually improve every generation of THE LIGHTER. As of 2026, THE LIGHTER™ is used by more than 3,600 creators across over 35 countries worldwide.
